Chindia Tower belongs to the Princely Court at Târgoviște, a complex that served Wallachian rulers and changed across several centuries. The tower was probably built in the second half of the fifteenth century during Vlad Țepeș’s reign, according to the National Museum Curtea Domnească. Archaeological work also found that it was built over the porch of an earlier chapel associated with Mircea the Elder. Its foundation therefore links successive periods of the court rather than beginning with a single ruler.
