Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu began planning a memorial for his daughter in the years after her death. Iulia Hasdeu, a writer and student, died of tuberculosis at eighteen. Between 1894 and 1896, her father built the castle at Câmpina in her memory. The museum preserves an earlier sketch, drawn by Hasdeu on a page of a spiritist manuscript dated September 3, 1893.

The building’s design makes its purpose visible. Its rooms and towers use symbols, colored glass, and paired mirrors. The museum describes a dark room where spiritist sittings took place and a temple space at the top of the tallest tower. These are documented features of the memorial. They do not establish that Hasdeu communicated with his daughter, but show how spiritual belief informed the architecture he commissioned.
