Old Parliament House opened in Canberra on 9 May 1927 as the provisional home of Australia’s federal Parliament. It was designed to serve for a limited period, but Parliament remained there until 1988. Over those six decades, the building expanded and adapted as government grew. Its chambers, offices, party rooms, and press gallery preserve the working spaces where national decisions were made.
