Treasurer’s House stands beside York Minster on ground with a much longer history than the house itself. Its foundations sit over Roman Eboracum, and excavations beneath the cellar revealed remains of the Roman headquarters and a road. The medieval Treasurers of York Minster later had their mansion here. The present house took shape through several owners and was substantially reshaped in the early twentieth century by Frank Green.
